  • Schedule Changes and Recent Activities

The Marshall County Democratic Central Committee voted in December 2014 to change the meeting day, time, and place for our Monthly Meeting. Since January 2015 we have been meeting the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Marshalltown Public Library (105 W. Boone St.) at 5:30 p.m. Appetizers and socializing take place from 5:30 to 6:00 with the program to follow at 6:00. This has sparked more interest, improved attendance and been more convenient for many of our guest speakers.

  • Bittersweet Election Results 2014

Wow! One of our biggest fears about 2014 came true! Many Iowans in November 2014 buried their heads in the sand during the last election! The new right wing economic and political oligarchy growing in America is as dangerous to democracy as the Robber Barons of the late 19th century. Well they got their way last November! They won elections all across Iowa and the nation. We lost our replacement for retiring Democratic Senator Tom Harkin and our Democratic seat in the 1st Congressional District (Pat Murphy) that includes Marshall County. Why? Because many Democrats and Democratic leaning Independents refused to vote! Many of our voters think that their vote is not important or that it does not matter in elections when we are not electing a President. Boy, are they wrong!
